Some like it hot

Have you ever known people who like hot weather?  What is wrong with them?  I mean the hotter it gets – the more they enjoy it.

I have always been a mid 70 degree girl.  That’s my idea of perfect weather.   No sweating, no hot car seats, no hot door handles, no hot seat belts, no humidity limp hair. Why, that type of weather just makes you wanna say, “ahhhh.”

I once thought about moving to San Diego back in the 70s.  I thought it would be the most ideal place for great non 90 degree weather. I had lived in Phoenix, AZ with extreme heat four years prior and just wanted an abrupt change of scenery.   But, ya know, I missed North Carolina too much to make the move to that beautiful southern California oasis.

You see, once North Carolina gets in your blood, you may leave for a while, but you’ll return. And, it doesn’t really matter if it’s hot and humid weather. We just exist in 70 degree air conditioned comfort during four hot months and live the good life the eight remaining months of the year in gorgeous NC!

William and Kate – That’s Hot

I like William and Kate –it’s simple.  I want them to happy and successful.  I look at them and have a renewed sense of affection for royalty.

I allow myself to just enjoy being a royal watcher in this day of woe and conflict. It’s just comforting to watch The Happy!

It seems Americans have always been enamored with the royals.  On William and Kate’s recent trip to LA, they were HOT upon arrival as if they were the current serving as the King and Queen.

What makes them hot?  We look at William’s handsome face and see Diana etched there. We enjoy that easy smile so like his moms.  He seems to have her spirit of adventure and empathy. We fondly remember the happy times for his mother.

And Kate! She   is such a positive role model for young women around the world. She exudes grace, style, classic beauty and a genuine love for people. It appears was born to be the Duchess of Cambridge.

I predict William and Kate will be a hot topic and a happy couple for some time!

What’s Hot?

Ever thought of what are the hot selling items in a slow economy in America? According to Pennyjobs.com, Curtis Ophoven reports: Excluding seasonal items, here is my list of the 10 hottest selling items of the day:

1.      Gold, Silver and other precious metals – gold just made new highs in 5 currencies
2.      Guns, ammo and gun training – fear is driving need for personal protection
3.      Large home safe - for storing cash, guns and valuables
4.      Everything on the McDonalds dollar menu – restaurant food is no longer affordable
5.      Job search tools and services – unemployment is raising very fast
6.      Do it yourself healthcare products – healthcare is still a necessity
7.      E-Commerce continues to grow – Amazon.com just posted a 30% gain over last year, which can probably be attributed to increasing gas prices, costing consumers more to actually drive to the shore to make a purchase
8.      Solar energy products – high oil prices have pushed home energy costs to the limits
9.      Information products – ‘how to’ products related to living in a recession
10.  Cheap entertainment – to help people laugh and forget the reality of financial hardship

During tough times, we go back to doing what we should have been doing all along – taking care of ourselves and families in a more responsible financial manner.

It’s Hot

Why does it happen every summer?  We can’t believe how hot it is!  Hey, it’s summer – it’s suppose to be hot.  It’s been hot in the summer for centuries. This isn’t new news.

But, people need to take the heat seriously and use every precaution for themselves and their animals to stay healthy.  According to Heidi Cullen, a senior research scientist with Climate Central, a nonprofit research organization which reports on climate changes, heat is the No. 1 weather-related killer in the United States—ahead of tornadoes, floods, or lightning strikes.

Drink those fluids! I talked to an EMT the other day and asked him if they had been busy in July.  He said, “Oh yes, and the answer is as simple as drinking water! They can buy a $1 bottled water or they can pay $800 for an IV bag -  their choice.”

So take heed.  Jim Rohn once said, “There have never been two consecutive summers.” October will be here soon
